This is my recipe for a great peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The brand or flavor of each ingredient does not really matter but I find using these certain ingredients provides the best results.
- Take to slices of canadian white bread and lay them out in front of you.
- Use a knife to scoop out a little of Jif peanut butter and spread it on one slice of bread.
- Next, take some grape jelly and spread it around on the other slice of bread.
- Finally, take the peanut butter covered slice of bread and place it on top of the jelly covered slice of bread and enjoy the deliciousness.

My Favorite Meal
Some people might say their favorite meal is the one that tastes the best like homemade lasagna, or the pizza from that restaurant. To me a food that someone loves just because it tastes good is not really their favorite meal. It doesn’t hold any particular value other than it tastes good. My favorite food is one that a good majority of people loved before we were in pre- school. I am talking, of course, about the good old fashioned peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Why of all things would I choose a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as my favorite meal? Like I said before it is not just about the taste for me. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches have been a part of my life for a long long time. Back when I was young I was a very picky eater and disliked most of the food my mother put on my plate. I refused to eat the vegetables, the fish, the soup, or anything new that I had not heard of. Then one day when I was just sitting on the couch, watching television, and my mother called me saying that she had made me lunch. When I went into the kitchen I asked her what it was she had made. She then told me it was called a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I only knew what the bread and the peanut butter tasted like and that was good enough for me. It immediately became my favorite food and probably asked for it every day. It even became more important to me as I got older.
As the years passed the PBJ sandwich was still my favorite food. Eventually I asked my parents to teach me how to make it. I could not believe how simple it was. Just take some peanut butter and spread it on one slice of bread and spread jelly on the other slice. The only problem is my parents decided to not just tell me, they showed me and gave it to me for lunch so I couldn’t make it myself. For a while I would try and go to make myself the sandwich for lunch but my mother would either already be making lunch or immediately start making it for me. I guess she did not trust me with a knife at a young age. Eventually they let me make it myself and the PBJ sandwich became an even bigger part of my life. It did not just represent my favorite food anymore. It now represented the first meal I learned to make and also represented the first time my parents let me hold a knife. It would be shortly after that when my favorite sandwich would become part of my life in school.
I do not know if was the same for other people but for me the food in all of my town’s schools was just terrible. When it wasn’t slop it was always just food that was days old and had just been reheated. Also because of my picky eating habits I usually got very little to eat at lunches and would end up being a little hungry until I ate dinner. Then the schools made a change. They would continue to serve the same garbage like they always have but everyday there would be a stack of PBJ sandwiches for the students who did not like what was on their plate. Then the peanut butter and jelly sandwich also saved me from going hungry for a good portion of my life.
In conclusion, the PBJ sandwich is my favorite meal not only because I love the taste, but because it has given me memorable experiences, like the first time I made my own food and the first time my parents trusted me with a knife. This sandwich has even saved me from going hungry at school. Today I don’t make PBJ sandwiches that often. I usually save them for a quick meal if I am in a rush and hungry. But because I do not eat it that often I get to be reminded of how amazing it tastes every time I eat it.
